I vote for Drs. Swaminathan as the most adept at saying nothing. In other words, making sure that whatever the future outcome, she won't be wrong. Coming up with these meaningless statements while appearing to be erudite--well, it is a remarkable talent. I wonder if Tony taught it to her, or if she learned it on her own?
“Delta and Omicron are now twin threats driving up cases to record numbers, leading to spikes in hospitalization and deaths,” Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the W.H.O.’s director-general, said at a news conference in Geneva.
“While our cases have substantially increased from last week, hospitalizations and deaths remain comparatively low right now,” [Walensky] said, pointing to a seven-day average of hospitalizations of 9,000 per day, an increase of about 14 percent from last week. The seven-day average of daily deaths stood at roughly 1,100 per day, she added, a decrease of about 7 percent.
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, the chief scientific officer for the W.H.O., said that early real-world data indicated that the link between infection numbers and hospitalizations had been “disrupted.”
Please help parse this NYT description of what Soumya said:
While it was increasingly clear that vaccinated people are being infected with Omicron, meaning that there was a reduction in the capacity of vaccines to neutralize the virus, the early evidence on the protection vaccination might provide was positive.
Somehow the below quintessential Fauci quote got erased from the story. I could swear I read it in WaPo, but here it is in Bloomberg:
“The pattern and disparity between cases and hospitalizations strongly suggests that there will be a lower hospitalization-to-case ratio when the situation becomes more clear,” Fauci said.
And if you want to see how my pal Mark Crispin Miller describes Fauci's unique argot, read up on it at his substack.

"Protection" as in milder symptoms and less hospitalization. Leave it to them to spin a milder cold like version of a coronavirus into a vaccination "protection" plus for a vaccine that might or might not actually do anything at all.
It is basically equal to Omicrom infects mostly vaccinated people, but the symptoms are milder so the vaccine must be why the symptoms are milder. False logic.
NYT [[the early evidence on the protection vaccination might provide was positive.]]
This makes perfect sense.
But it is a cover story and a hangout, that's all, that's all.
The key slime words the Slime Times uses: "early evidence"
Early evidence --- VE evaluation totally meaningless, absent END POINTS!
This latest circus of grandiose claims as all the others, ignore END POINTS.
"J&J says study shows vaccine boosters 85% effective preventing severe COVID-19"
"We are therefore encouraged to see that boosting with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine regimen provides strong protection in a challenging real-world setting where there is an elevated risk of exposure -- not just to COVID-19, but to the highly transmissible Omicron variant," Glenda Gray, CEO of the South African Medical Research Council, said in a statement.
This United Press International [UPI] Limited Hangout posing as News, states: [[The drugmaker said the study, conducted by the South African Medical Research Council, showed that the extra dose reduced hospitalizations among healthcare workers after the Omicron became the dominant variant there. ]]
Publishing these types of claims are intentionally misleading and confusing the public for single goal: Increase Sales of covid death shots.
https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2021/12/30/johnson-covid-vaccine-booster-study/3131640869246/ -----Johnson & Johnson said the study was conducted in about 350 vaccination centers across South Africa.
What is most wrong with this picture is as follows: this is not peer reviewed, nor even appearing in any pre print! [Yet this SH*T is all over the media, only underscoring this is Hangout.]
[[The data have been submitted to the pre-print server medRxiv by the studies’ authors, with anticipation of publication in peer-reviewed journals.]] -- This, from the drug company's own press release.
This was published online today, Dec. 30, 2021 --- a press release, making unscientific claims and claiming its science. Here we go again.
https://www.jnj.com/johnson-johnson-covid-19-vaccine-demonstrates-85-percent-effectiveness-against-hospitalization-in-south-africa-when-omicron-was-dominant
It states: [[Sisonke 2 was conducted in approximately 350 vaccination centers across all nine provinces of South Africa. Utilizing data from Discovery Health, a South African managed care organization, trial investigators determined VE of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster shot (n=69,092) as compared to other individuals enrolled in the same managed care organization, during the period from November 15, 2021, through December 20, 2021.]]
Sorry, only an idiot or someone purposely lying to the public would claim that VE can be measured in just over a month. These are in no way valid END POINTS, period.
The NYTimes saying [[the early evidence on the protection vaccination might provide was positive.]] --- yeah, of course: but this entirely misses the point -- and this was done, has been done and continues to be done, on purpose.
Brazen propaganda and cover stories pushed by BigMedia/Tech on behalf of BigDrugMakers. To push sales of death shots.
Dr. Malone, permanently banned from Twitter. Why? He was getting in the way of the covid death shots sales agenda.
