After Ebola survival, perhaps 40% go on to develop chronic illnesses/ Al Jazeera

I wrote about the fact there was a "post-Ebola syndrome" here, which might include visual problems (usually due to uveitis), joint pains, and psychological issues.  It was not well defined due to the small size of previous epidemics and small number of survivors.

Now Al Jazeera has written about several people whose post-Ebola survival is complicated by those problems, and others: impotence, a sleep disorder and more.

A physician who was treated at NIH and had a very prolonged Ebola illness developed retinal lesions, possibly as a result of microthrombi.

Given the many possible manifestations of Ebola, the spectrum of chronic symptoms is likely to expand as we see more recovered cases.
