‘Most people are going to get covid’: A momentous warning at a Senate hearing (by acting FDA Commissioner Woodcock)/ WaPo

“I think it’s hard to process what’s actually happening right now,” said Janet Woodcock, acting commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, “which is most people are going to get covid.”

Woodcock pitched this as being a necessary acknowledgment when it comes to charting the path forward — recognizing that the focus now needs to be on averting the worst that widespread infections could bring in the near term.

“What we need to do is make sure the hospitals can still function, transportation, you know, other essential services are not disrupted while this happens,” she said. “I think after that will be a good time to reassess how we’re approaching this pandemic.”

Woodcock’s projection might not be terribly surprising, given the number of daily positive tests rising to record levels. On Monday, the seven-day average reached more than 760,000, meaning about 1 in every 60 Americans has tested positive in the last week alone. (And that’s probably a significant undercount, given the mildness of many omicron cases and the availability of at-home tests.) A study released about four months ago — before the rise of the unprecedentedly infectious omicron variant — estimated that 31 percent of the U.S. population had already been infected even by that point.

Woodcock’s comment also came shortly after a World Health Organization official warned the same day that Europe could see more than 50 percent of its population infected over the next six to eight weeks.

  1. I don't understand why it is hard for her to process, but maybe it is. I'm getting the impression that many of these people, including Francis Collins, truly believed they could prevent people from getting infected with lockdowns, standing six feet apart, surgical masks and their vaccine.

It is very concerning to me that she seems surprised. Maybe this will wake them up about giving people treatment.

  2. When it comes to medicine, it seems that those who can, do. Those who can't, teach or go work for the government.

  3. Why is it that all the lockstep ones seem to think if they catch Covid they are going to die? Like, it's guaranteed you are going to die. As in, only .26 of the population dies most years (definitely in 2018, 2019 and 2020) from all cause deaths, but each and every one of the people who HAVE to get a shot and need EVERYONE ELSE to get a shot are the ones that will DIIIIIIIEEEEE if they catch Covid, even though it is more likely they will die from a car crash and they still drive every day. That they will be the ones with Long Covid even though it is at least as or more likely to have a long term adverse reaction to the shot. Did they never have any critical thinking ability or has it just gotten lost somewhere in the last two years?

  4. Nothing will wake them up. Bill Gates, Klaus Schwab, Soros, and Fauci keep them sedated with lots of $$$$$$$$. Throw in Big Pharma's deceit and corruption along with our bought off/paid off politicians and the way out of this sea of Covid quicksand becomes very treacherous.

The only thing this Covid drama has made clear is how stupid people are and how easy it is for governments and powerful cartels (like Big Pharma) to control people with their carefully crafted propaganda via mainstream media like Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the BBC, and the rest of the professional liars.

.... meanwhile, Fauci still has a job!
