Only 70% of healthcare workers were fully vaccinated by September 15, according to US government data

 From a paper published in the American Journal of Infection Control, we learn

"To protect both patients and staff, healthcare personnel (HCP) were among the first groups in the United States recommended to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. We analyzed data reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Unified Hospital Data Surveillance System on COVID-19 vaccination coverage among hospital-based HCP. After vaccine introduction in December 2020, COVID-19 vaccine coverage rose steadily through April 2021, but the rate of uptake has since slowed; as of September 15, 2021, among 3,357,348 HCP in 2,086 hospitals included in this analysis, 70.0% were fully vaccinated. Additional efforts are needed to improve COVID-19 vaccine coverage among HCP."

  1. They were going to have to fire almost 30 percent of the San Jose police department for not getting the vaccine when suddenly everyone got the shots, except one person.

    I don't believe it, nor do I believe the 99% compliance rate of San Francisco employees.

    They need to do blood tests of everyone to confirm vaccination, or else drop the mandate, which is of course preferable.

    While morally acceptable to forge documents about getting this vaccine, I don't like living in a society where it is standard practice, and most likely encouraged by politicians so as to avoid embarrassment.

    It's also a sleazy way to use peer pressure to get others to take the shot, because there are people who believe these government numbers.

  2. If I've done my sums right, about 1 million healthcare personnel in the US remain unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated. That's a far more impressive number than 30% :-)

  3. Sorry, but according to the US census there are 22 million healthcare workers in the US. 30% of them makes 6.6 million unvaccinated in September.

    I was going by the total number of HCPs cited in the analysis: 3.3 million or so.

    If these data are generalisable to the total population of US healthcare personnel, then yes, the number who have resisted "full vaccination" is even more impressive.

    Regardless, there seems to be a solid core of resistance amongst those who are in the know. That makes me really happy.
